All About This Company

All About This Company
  • Originally Howard Anderson Auto & Marine Upholsterers, this business was bought by Stephen Broad on Howard's retirement in 2009.  Then in 2020 Jonny Low became co-owner.
  • The company continues the traditions Howard established with the main focus still on marine and vehicle upholstery.
  • In 2012 we became an agent of Rhino-Rack and began supplying and fitting Rhino-Rack roof racksand related products.
  • In 2019 Stephen and Jonny travelled to Auckland to check out the products available from Retro Vehicle Enhancement and receive training in fitting their custom leather upholstery.

Stephen Broad - Owner

Stephen Broad - Owner Stephen had worked for Howard since leaving school in 1992, gaining his Trade Certificate in Motor Trimming in 1997.  He now has more than 29 years experience in the trade.  Since buying the business from Howard in 2009 he has had to spend more time on paperwork but still finds that he is in the workshop most of the day.

When he can get away from work Stephen spends his time as a Boy's Brigade leader, going boating. fishing, and tramping.  After sponsoring the Speedway for a number of years he decided to give it a go himself and his first race was in October 2018.

Jonny Low - Owner

Jonny Low - Owner Jonny joined the company when he left high school in 2002 and became co-owner in 2020.  He has more than 19 years experience in a job that he enjoys, in part, because of the wide variety of work carried out (although these days he mostly works on the marine side).  He likes to complete a task from design, through manufacture, to the finished product.

Jonny and his wife have two children aged 13 and 10.  He is a former soccer player but is now spending more time on house renovations and his furniture project.

Trish Douglas - Office Manager

Trish Douglas - Office Manager Trish has worked in offices since leaving school.  In 2002 she was employed by Howard Anderson to work part time and when Stephen bought the business in 2009 she stayed on as sole office person working five days a week.

She spends much of her spare time with her husband, mother, and younger sister but her greatest interest these days is singing.  In 2013 she joined the Foveaux Harmony Chorus, an a capella group singing in four-part harmony and competing nationally as part of the world-wide organisation of Sweet Adelines.
